The Society's mission: to glorify God and sanctify souls through the rediscovery of the contemplative Catholic tradition in the arts, the liturgy and the lives and writings of her Saints.
The Society of St. Dominic was formed to reintroduce truths that transcend time and space. These truths were perfected in saints' writings and incarnated by artists for the benefit of all -- that art created to glorify God and sanctify souls can be a doorway to supernatural contemplation of the true, the good and the beautiful.
Incorporated in Winnipeg -- as a private association of the lay faithful -- it promotes spiritual conferences, public talks and cultural events which emphasize the Spiritual Acts of Mercy; to instruct the ignorant; to pray for the living and the dead.
We are under the dual Queenship of Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and invoke the patronage of one monastic and two mendicant saints: Saint Dominic of Silos, Saint Dominic Guzman and Saint Therese of Lisieux.
In 2017, we added the patronage of St. Joseph in honour of the devotion to him begun by the Carmelites of Syria and the Dominicans St Albert the Great and Isidore de Lille.
Society events are funded by benefactors and hosted by volunteers who take seriously St. Philip Neri's dictum amare nisciri - "love to be unknown".
