Shakespeare & You Acting Workshop

THE SOCIETY OF ST. DOMINIC IS PLEASED TO PRESENT

Shakespeare & You
New York Actor Kevin Collins
Exclusive acting workshop for 25 guests

Winnipeg - October 28th and 29th 2016

Tickets limited to 25 guests

Winnipeg - October 28th and 29th 2016

This 2-day workshop for non-actors - aged 16 and over - brings participants right into the world of Shakespeare’s plays through the practical means of speaking and embodying his characters’ words and actions. In this way, participants will experience the world of Shakespeare by inhabiting it, as actors do in rehearsal and performance.

Participants will learn to make Shakespeare’s words and characters their own, bringing them to life with clarity, conviction, and relish. The workshop is ideal for secondary level and university students, young and aspiring actors, teachers, parents, professionals, and anyone with an interest in improving his or her public speaking and presentation skills. Previous acting experience is not necessary; preparation will be limited to reading the short scenes and speeches to be used in the workshop.

Kevin Collins is a stage, screen and voice actor. After studying philosophy at St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto, he trained at the National Theatre School of Canada, where he worked extensively on Shakespeare and other classical texts with top theatre practitioners from Canada and abroad.

As a member of Ireland’s Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, he played leading and featured roles in Shakespeare and contemporary plays. He performed for several years in London’s West End, and spent a year working with Sir Peter Hall, the founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company and a master of Shakespearean text.

Kevin’s motion picture and television credits include Munich (directed by Steven Spielberg), Baby Mama (opposite Tina Fey and Steve Martin), the lead role in Infinite Justice, and guest star appearances on Law & Order, Person of Interest, The Blacklist, Shades of Blue, Gossip Girl, and Blue Bloods, to name a few.

Kevin’s voice is heard daily on US television and radio. He has taught at theatre schools and led acting workshops in the USA, England, Ireland and Canada, including at his alma mater, the National Theatre School in Montreal.
